Lots of new THH70 news to post this week, so without further adieu…
A brand-new canvas is completed! Ever since I finished my 24 x 36″ nude piece “UMAMI”, I’ve been wanting to do a smaller-scale nude on canvas with an idea I had. I recently did “S[k]IN”, an 11 x 14″ paper piece, so I figured the time was right to get the show on the road and create my canvas.
So, here’s the latest completed work: a heavily-detailed 18 x 24″ canvas entitled “SHOCK + AHHH”! Below are images of the completed piece, as well as a couple detail shots. The piece is available now on my website at http://www.thh70online.com :
In other news, I recently have aligned myself with a charity based in Dallas, TX that is very near & dear to my heart: Paws In The City, an animal rescue and adoption charity. Co-founded by my new friend Tara Harper, this wonderful charity does amazing work: they are an all-volunteer nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization committed to ending the abuse, neglect and overpopulation of Dallas area dogs and cats (and after living here for almost 3 years, I can tell you that the animal neglect & overpopulation problem here is RAMPANT!). Their goal is that every adoptable dog and cat get a loving home. By providing money for spay/neuter and increasing the adoption rate, they take the first step in making Dallas a “no-kill” city. As I have rescued animals in the past (4 of the 5 animals I have now were strays I took in), this type of organization is very meaningful to me.
Their massive yearly event called “Top Hat & Tails” will take place on June 12, 2010 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field in Dallas, and I will be happily donating some of my work for the auction portion of the event, with 100% of the proceeds going to Paws In The City! If you’re located in or around Dallas, get your tickets to the event! If you’re not, I still encourage you to make a donation…and place bids via online for the work I’m donating! More details & info on my donated work is forthcoming! Until then, please visit Paws In The City online at http://www.pawsinthecity.org/
Until next time,
