Wishing all my friends, enemies, lovers, haters, collectors, detractors, family, & everybody else in between a very Happy Valentine’s Day! :-)
…and very Happy Chinese New Year — the Year of the Tiger!
A couple new paintings have been conceived since my last blog. Lots of great things have been going on recently (more on that later), but for the most part, at the moment I’m working on completing the 8 1/2 foot tall commissioned piece on the wooden surfboard for a collector of mine. It’s turning out AMAZING so far, and I can’t wait to show you the finished product! I’m hoping it’s completed within the next week or so…but now, onto the new work!
This first piece is a new collaboration between myself and my good friend, Urban Contemporary artist C. KIRK. It’s actually is a portrait of yours truly! The last time a portrait of me was painted was by my old friend DAVMO, and that was probably 8 or 9 years ago. So, when Kirk and I thought about collaborating on a new painting and he wanted to create an image of me for the work, I was honored. I think the piece came out really well: his rendering of me, blended in with my distressed background, accents, and text. It’s just a really strong canvas. It is currently available on my website.
The second piece is a new 11 x 14″ piece on paper entitled “Gasp + Swoon”. It’s a pretty interesting little work: a detailed & dimensional facial image coupled with a raw scribbled background. My attention always goes straight to her eyes when I look at it. Hope you enjoy it! This piece is also available now on my website.
More work coming soon, and another blog post coming in the next couple days to detail some more of what’s been going on…
