Things over here are rocking’ and rollin’ this Winter, as I’ve been continuing my work on the slew of commissions I have coming in.
I wanted to share with you one of the ones I just completed for a new collector here in Dallas, TX.
He loves the more Abstract Expressionist elements of my work, so I was commissioned to do a canvas that had no text and no formal imagery (I know — a real switch from my normal style, right?).
I delivered the finished piece to him a few days ago, and he is in love with it, so I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. :-)
In 2010, I’ll probably be experimenting more in this Abstract Expressionist style. I’m thinking I might be able to create a decent-sized series of these pieces for a one-off show of nothing but these particular works for sometime in late 2010 / early 2011. In the meantime, here is the finished commission:
I am continuing my work on the larger commissions that I have, which should keep me busy till about the end of the year. More news forthcoming about those!
Even though my regular art output will be drastically reduced due to the above-mentioned commission work, over the last week or so, I did have some time to finish up a couple smaller pieces on paper. I hope to try to finish up a few more before 2010, time permitting. I love these new smaller pieces — the “blueblood” piece sold to a collector even before the lacquer dried! The other piece “socialytes + troglodytes” is kind of a “part 2” to a piece I did a few months ago called “debutantes + dilettantes”. It’s currently available on my website. Enjoy!
