At some point, every artist has to do their own take on a self-portrait, right? And lately, I have been working on so much new artwork that I thought “why not funnel some of that creativity into a self-portrait?”
So, with that in my head, I set out to create something that symbolizes where I’m at in my current work: utilizing more illustrative hand-drawn raw elements, mixed with my paint and chemical application..and, of course, the text…the glorious text… :-)
And I think the text and title of this piece really just says it all: “Artist In Residence”. Because with my work, this is where I stand. This is home to me.
So, like I said in the title of this blog, this is the first and last ever self portrait of me. There will never be another. I don’t think I could ever make another one mean as much as this one means to me now. It fits me like a glove. :-)
