as many of you know, i’ve been working on a bunch of projects lately. it’s been a really busy time, but i wanted to mention one project i haven’t really gone into detail about yet:
i will be showing my art this coming August (as well as co-curating) in a themed group show here in Dallas at HCG Gallery, located in the Design District! i’m putting the show together with friend and fellow artist C. Kirk, and we’ll be showing not only our own work, but the work of about 15 other artists from the United States and Europe. the show will be called STIMULUS PACKAGE, and the theme of the show will center around the following:
- Greedy Corporate/Government entities vs. The Consumer (i.e.: “big fish against the minnows in the sea of commerce”)
- The public growing disenfranchised with big business, bad government, and the bailouts passed along between the two
- Providing the Artist’s interpretation of uncertain times brought about by years of harmful business practices and government’s lack of moral responsibility to it’s citizens
- To create a satirical dialogue re: the predatory capitalist/consumer relationship that saturates every aspect of our culture.
we’re still in the planning stages with the gallery, trying to get all the little details all together (it’s a big undertaking, as we want the show to get nationwide exposure, plus we’re hoping to tie it in with some local charities), but we think the show is going to ROCK Dallas, as we’ll be presenting a timely theme and showing artists from around the planet — most of whom have never been seen in this town…i could mention some of the artists we’ll be showing…but i don’t want to spoil the surprise :-)
more details will be posted in the coming weeks!
